2019 El Lugar
Spanish Springs Vineyard
San Luis Obispo, Californiaa
This is lush, velvety New World Pinot Noir just the way we like it. When the morning marine layer dissipates these vines have a postcard-worthy ocean view. Thanks to its cool climate and vicinity to the water, Spanish Springs vineyard always picks late, allowing gradual flavor development and concentration without excess sugar build up. Unfined and unfiltered, pomegranate, cedar and black tea aromas lead to a juicy palate of black cherry and raspberry with a seductive tannin structure and complexity galore. A soulful expression of Pinot Noir begging to be paired with bacon-wrapped Pork Tenderloin.
2018 The Wine Stash
The perfect Summer sparkler has arrived from our friends at the Wine Stash! A serious sparkling Rose’ that need not be taken seriously, we love the vibrant structure and delicate flavors of this 100% Grenache. Bright peppered strawberry and mineral greet you on the nose, leading to a racy palate of cool watermelon and citrus flavors, all held together by the wine’s frothy release of bubbles and crisp acidity. The perfect sparkler to conquer the summer heat.
Sonoma Coast, California
Winemaker Petar Kirilov only made 57 cases of this gorgeous Sonoma Coast Chardonnay and every single drop of it is liquid gold. Taylor’s Crown vineyard is an ideal terroir for Chardonnay with its cool, marine-influenced climate and elevation above the fogline, just what the grape needs for a balance of concentration and elegance. Pale yellow gold in color, the nose offers an abundance of brioche, slivered almonds, and lemon oil. The palate is rich with carmelized baked apple flavors and a kiss of vanilla oak that runs deep into the creamy, rounded finish. A bold expression of Sonoma Coast Chardonnay with a subtle Burgundian accent!
2018 was a long, moderate growing season for Preston’s five organically-farmed blocks of Zinfandel, ideal conditions for the Dry Creek region in Northern Sonoma. Working with vines ranging from 20 to a whopping 110 years of age, winemaker Grayson Hartley crafts a rich, brambly Zin with uncommon complexity and vibrant acidity. Classic spice and wild berry aromatics lead to a juicy palate with raspberry and blackberry flavors. After spending 20 months in neutral oak prior to bottling, the wine’s finish is smooth and approachable, making this Zin an ideal pairing for lamb burgers or barbecued ribs.
2019 Novelty Hill
Stillwater Creek Vineyard
The 2019 Novelty Hill is the rare Viognier that captures the grape’s elegance and freshness that often evades even the very best winemakers’ efforts. Credit winemaker Andrew Januik’s perfectly timed harvest together with the Stillwater Creek Vineyard’s unique site for bringing out the best in this fickle grape. With its subtle northern exposure and elevation gain, the vineyard delivers a flavor profile of exotic fruits and floral aromas all while retaining a juicy acid backbone. A touch of Roussanne to the final blend brings out structure and a complex honeysuckle aromatic, resulting in added complexity and grace to this lovely wine.
2019 The Eyrie Vineyards
Simply stated, this is delicious liquid history from one of Oregon’s founding wine families. David Lett planted these Pinot Gris vines back in 1965, the varietal’s first New World planting. While the Dundee Hills and its red volcanic soils are best known for world class Pinot Noir, this rare, original vine bottling (less than 100 cases produced) of Pinot Gris is worthy of equal and even greater praise, especially from the classic 2019 vintage. Intensely perfumed with notes of chamomile and stone fruit, the elegant palate is deceptively rich and layered with melon and light honey flavors, all leading to a long enduring finish that shows the promise of a wine that could cellar for many many years to come.
Yakima Valley, Washington
This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from the Boushey Vineyard’s original blocks of fruit first planted in 1980, widely considered to be one of Washington State’s finest vineyards. A cool, late-harvested, southern exposed site, the long hang time makes for expressive wines with great depth. The deepest crimson in color, aromas of plum and cherry are accented by hints of vanilla and smoky herbs. Juicy black cherry and spice flavors are framed by a smooth, velvety tannin structure and enduring hints of herbs and dark chocolate. A classic example of Cabernet from one of the state’s iconic growers.
Central Coast, California
A classic GSM blend of 47% Grenache, 30% Syrah, 19% Mourvedre, with a unique touch of 2% Roussanne and 2% Grenache Blanc, this 2017 is indeed the Cure for anyone bored with the wines they’ve been drinking. A bold, luscious New World homage to Chateauneuf-du-Pape, the savory nose of grilled herbs and kirsch leads to a rich palate of black raspberry and plum. Smooth and refined through the finish thanks to the signature limestone soils of Paso Roble’s Westside terroir, this powerful wine could spend next the decade in the cellar, but you’ll have a hard time keeping your hands off it!
